At The Vale Practice Plymouth, we offer English tutoring to support young people the whole way through KS3. We have an experienced, highly qualified and competent teacher who cares about the best outcomes possible for all children. We believe that education can eradicate inequality. Whether we are teaching your child about rhetoric, the Victorians, gothic literature, or dystopian fiction, we will be delivering high quality content in a way that is accessible for your child's needs. We can cover all elements of KS3 English, including literacy, vocabulary, reading, writing for various different purposes, English language and English literature. Knowledge is power, and by educating young people, we empower them with information, enabling them to make the best choices for themselves. Diversity, equality and inclusion are a priority for us at The Vale Practice; and are essential to an effective learning environment. We enjoy facilitating discussions, interthinking, between learners, and approaching problems and topics creatively. Central to any teaching practice here at the Vale Practice Plymouth are of course principles of empathy, congruence, and unconditional positive regard, which we believe are essential to being able to see the whole learner. All children have a right to an education that fosters personal growth and development, gaining cultural and historical capital, learning to love learning, self-assessing to reflect on their strengths and weaknesses, and finally preparation for adult life. We create a nurturing space where we model that we can make mistakes, take accountability and grow from them. It is important to all practitioners that all children feel safe; a child cannot learn if their sympathetic nervous system is engaged. However, a consistent, stable and appropriate relationship with an emotionally available adult can improve life outcomes for learners who have had adverse childhood experiences. My safeguarding and signposting skills are excellent. I can confidently support young people who have complex needs in accessing appropriate referrals. I have successfully de-escalated young people in various levels of crisis, including suicidality, extreme violence, or sexually inappropriate behaviour.
